About The Position

They are intended as a general outline of the essential work responsibilities and qualifications of the position. This position is a limited duration position and will end on or before June 30, 2026. Under the general supervision of the SUN Site Manager, the Program Assistant provides direct program administrative support to the Community Schools program at Centennial High School.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated competency in using Word, Excel and various database programs

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Possesses excellent time management and strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively manage and maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to recognize and manage critical incidents within programs and mandatory reporting regulations and responsibilities
  • Ability and commitment to continuous quality improvements and innovation of program
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED, BA or BS preferred or equivalent related experience
  • Demonstrated experience in an administrative capacity
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • Personal transportation allows for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy.
  • MFS requires all employees and volunteers to complete a criminal background check. We review the results of all background checks individually and consider all of the circumstances of any issues that arise in a background check during the hiring process.

  • Fluency in Spanish (read, write and speak) is preferred, but not required

  • Provide support for activity leader staff, including student workers, volunteers, and students participating in the SUN after school program
  • Facilitate outreach and recruitment of students, parents, and community members to increase participation, volunteerism, and involvement in SUN activities
  • Provide translation and language support or determine how to address translation and language support for non-English speaking families/students
  • Assist with the outreach and recruitment of community organizations and resources to support family health and social service needs
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of family and community events
  • Support evening classes for parents
  • Support before school classes for students
  • Coordinate participant registration, data collection, documentation, filing and database maintenance in accordance with the program’s needs
  • Provide data and written reports as required
  • Comply with Centennial School District policies and procedures
  • Attend supervision meetings with the SUN Site Manager
  • Comply with Metropolitan Family Service policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Effectively and consistently market the organization, communicating about MFS and its programs in a way that is both compelling and on message. Follow marketing guidelines in place when communicating with staff, volunteers, clients, partners, and potential supporters
  • Other duties as assigned by SUN Site Manager
