This temporary position is located at 1915 Health Services Way, Raleigh - Wake County, with the Department of Health & Human Services. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $35.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Trauma Process Improvement coordinator provides focused support to the statewide Trauma Program. This role strengthens trauma system operations by supporting performance improvement activities, trauma registry oversight, standardized reporting, and engagement with trauma centers and advisory committees. The position is intended to increase capacity for the statewide trauma system by focusing on performance improvement, timely reporting, and consistent engagement with trauma centers and oversight committees.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of trauma system structure, trauma registry standards, and performance improvement principles, including familiarity with state and national trauma requirements and data-driven quality processes.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and direct a statewide project with multiple stakeholders
  • Skill in reviewing, validating, and analyzing trauma registry data to identify trends, data quality issues, and performance gaps, and in producing clear, standardized reports and benchmarking analyses.
  • Skill in providing technical assistance and clear guidance to trauma registrars, PI coordinators, and committee members, including the ability to explain data requirements, resolve routine issues, and support collaborative workgroups.
  • Driver’s License required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • awareness of the ICD-10-CM injury and external cause coding and its impact on trauma registry data integrity, risk adjustment, injury severity scoring, and performance benchmarking.
