About The Position

The Administration Intern will support the Accounting, Finance, Fund Development, Operations and HR departments at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston, contributing to our mission of serving the community through effective, mission aligned program operations. The intern will assist with activities that strengthen nonprofit operations, including program evaluation, data informed decision making, and process improvement. Responsibilities will include supporting the collection and interpretation of program and financial data, helping prepare internal and external reports, and collaborating with staff to enhance organizational effectiveness. This internship offers hands on experience in nonprofit administration, strategic planning, and real world challenges faced by a large social service agency.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the area of Non-Profit Management, Accounting/Finance, Organizational Leadership, Human Resources or related field
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to Catholic Charities’ mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the Controller, the responsibility for finance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Detailed-oriented and proven results in accuracy.
  • Utilize sound judgment and decision-making skills, solve problems quickly and effectively, meet multiple deadlines and to work effectively under pressure in a high-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Experience with applicable software e.g. MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in gathering, organizing, and interpreting program and financial data to support organizational transparency and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to evaluate and implement operational strategies that strengthen program effectiveness and agency wide efficiency.
  • Help prepare clear, accessible reports and presentations for internal leadership, funders, and community stakeholders—including materials related to grant compliance and impact measurement.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute recommendations to improve organizational processes, data workflows, and overall program management systems.
  • Conduct research on best practices in nonprofit management, program evaluation, and data informed decision making within mission driven organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational priorities and special projects.
