About The Position

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at East Tennessee State invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position in Philosophy beginning January 15, 2027. We offer an undergraduate major in Philosophy and are excited to welcome a new colleague to join our program. The successful candidate will design and teach upper-level courses that are of particular interest to undergraduates pursuing a double major in philosophy and psychology, while also contributing to our broader curriculum. We are keen to consider applicants whose teaching will expand the diversity of our course offerings and engage students in new and dynamic ways. This position carries a 3–3 teaching load, active engagement in research, and participation in the shared service responsibilities of the department. Area of Specialization (AOS): Moral Psychology, Ethics Area of Competence (AOC): Philosophy of Mind

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy at time of appointment.
  • Evidence of strong undergraduate teaching and course design abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish high-quality philosophical research.
  • Collaborative approach to departmental service and collegiality.
