The Professional Tutor for Student-Athlete Support Services Office (SASSO) within the Office of Undergraduate Education will demonstrate knowledge of effective learning strategies and study skills. Employs innovative and creative instructional techniques. Must have strong and effective interpersonal skills, sensitivity, and understanding of concerns and issues of student-athletes. Maintains a positive learning environment and keeps student-athletes engaged in the learning process. Documents and tracks each tutoring session appointment by providing daily reports via OnCourse. Communicates with the Academic Enrichment Manager. Provides tutoring for student-athletes in individual or small group settings. Must be open to working a minimum of 6 hours a week with a maximum of 29 hours a week. Scheduled hours are assigned are based on student courses and needs. Attends all mandatory training and meetings. Performs other duties as assigned. For current OSU employees, to be eligible for this position, you cannot hold more than a 50% FTE appointment (20 hours a week) with the university and must currently be a non-exempt employee. Additional Information: Tutoring may be held virtually via Zoom or in-person for the Spring semester. If tutoring virtually, an applicant must have reliable internet access and a proven ability to navigate Zoom. Virtual tutoring may impact available hours.
