About The Position

The Learning Center at Lincoln Land Community College is seeking motivated and supportive professionals to join our team as Tutors! Professional Tutors provide one-on-one and small group academic support to LLCC students across a variety of courses. Professional Tutors play a vital role in helping The Learning Center foster a welcoming and supportive environment that empowers students to seek academic support and develop as confident, independent learners. Tutors will perform the following duties: Assist students with specific course-related concepts and problems in one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions. Help students learn how to: Develop effective study strategies Use supplementary learning materials Communicate with their professors Clarify classroom and textbook content Understand and apply academic rules, definitions, and concepts Work through sample problems and examples. Meet regularly with the Tutoring Coordinator to reflect on tutoring practices, discuss observations from sessions, explore the use of various learning strategies, and address any potential challenges. Participate in scheduled staff meetings and training. Maintain accurate records of student appointments. Professional tutors will be paid $35/hour and will be scheduled to work up to 20 hours per week. Requirements

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have a high level of patience and a sincere desire to help students gain an understanding of course concepts and/or content.
  • Recognize when to make referrals to appropriate campus resources when assistance beyond tutoring is needed.
  • Submit timesheets and other required documents according to established deadlines.
  • Complete LLCC's mandatory harassment prevention and cybersecurity training within 30 days of employment.
