MARSHALLTOWN’s ANNUAL SUMMER WORK PROGRAM (apply to this position if interested in Production!) MARSHALLTOWN is the leading manufacturer and distributor of tools in the construction facility. We sell directly to Big Box retails stores like Lowes and Home Depot, as well as to many others. You can find our products in the masonry, concrete, drywall, plastering, paint, tile, and flooring departments. We have multiple facilities just 10 minutes from the University of Arkansas! Each Summer, MARSHALLTOWN creates opportunities in our Shipping/Receiving and Production Facility for recent High School Graduates and Current College Students to work over the Summer months. Students earn a competitive wage while gaining valuable work experience in manufacturing. The Summer Work Program offers assignments in the production facility as well as shipping. Both positions have the same physical requirements: standing for 8 hours at a time, 5 days a week, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs as needed. Some overtime may be required. With that being said, there are some differences to the work. The production facility is climate controlled – Operators are generally assigned to a work cell (a work area with a piece of equipment) and are taught to run that cell to specification. If demand dries up in the cell, Operators are relocated to different cells, sometimes this happens a few times during the shift, sometimes it doesn’t happen at all during the shift – it really just depends on how busy that cell is (which depends on orders.) Lots of attention to detail is required in these roles! The Shipping facility is not climate controlled – and while both assignments require standing, shipping has quite a bit more moving around. Our Shipping & Receiving Facility is a very large facility and shipping operators definitely get their steps in! There is a lot of automation in both facilities – the automation is certainly different, though!
