About The Position

The Production Support Mechanical Engineer, reporting to the Lead Design Engineer, is a pivotal role focused on ensuring the reliability and performance of switchgear designs. As part of the Production Engineering team, this role leverages technical skills to support all switchgear products across the organization. Key responsibilities include investigating and resolving technical issues that arise during production. When not engaged in internal department support, the engineer will apply product knowledge to design custom engineered products as part of the design team. This position is crucial for maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring products meet or exceed customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or a relevant discipline
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Takes a proactive and detail-oriented approach to work
  • Can work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Experience in electrical equipment manufacturing or related industries

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and diagnose technical issues related to switchgear designs
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis to identify the underlying reasons for technical problems
  • Develop and implement effective solutions to address technical issues, ensuring minimal impact on production schedules
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to verify that all products meet quality and safety standards
  • Maintain detailed records of technical issues, investigations, and resolutions for future reference and continuous improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance the efficiency and reliability of production
  • Facilitate support from Engineering, Quality, Applications, and Supply Chain for Manufacturing as needed during build process to minimize/eliminate delays in delivery to the customer
  • Supporting the custom design of G&W Products to internal engineering standards and best practices within customer lead time and quality expectations
  • Work cross-functionally to support and provide technical aptitude for company and departmental projects as needed (e.g. Product Development, Aftermarket Support, Application Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing)
