About The Position

Supervises and coordinates activities of the manufacturing department. Closely monitors all production operations and makes immediate adjustments to improve performance.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs and rate charts.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Be detail oriented and accurate in all work performed.
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and five to seven years experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience may substitute for education.
  • Supervisory experience a must.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Develops and maintains a cross functional team to facilitate all production, material handling, and inspection needs throughout the shift.
  • Confers with other supervisors to ensure the production schedule and commitments are maintained.
  • Directly interfaces with all facility departments within the organization to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Works closely with the Production Schedule to establish Production Priorities based on customer needs, machine availability, and labor constraints
  • Ensures departmental safety compliance to OSHA regulations, Near Miss and Corrective Action follow up for unsafe practices, and ongoing safety training.
  • Is a Key Member of the SPG-MN Safety Committee.
  • Acts as an Emergency Responder on the shift; originates Accident Reports when an incident occurs for direct reports.
  • Supports the Injury/Accident Reduction Program.
  • Improves production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes and implements those changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Provides timely reports and analysis as requested concerning various key production indicators and measurements.
  • Maintains necessary time and production records.
  • Maintains the necessary controls and attitude to address and resolve personnel issues in a timely manner through the established progressive disciplinary action process.
