Requirements

  • Math and reasoning skills.
  • Flexibility in the hours and days that they work.
  • Availability as needed for inter-company work or weekend work.
  • Ability to be trained in HACCP.
  • Ability to be trained in GMP principles.
  • Knowledge of how to properly use all pieces of equipment within their area.
  • Understanding of how equipment works and ability to do basic troubleshooting.
  • Ability to carry out all duties of the line foreman.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce that all elements of Food Safety within the plant are being met and notify the manager immediately if any food safety issues are found.
  • Be trained in HACCP and know the Critical Control Points (CCP) for their given line.
  • Be trained in GMP principles and assist in maintaining that their area is in compliance with GMP.
  • Oversee the production of products in a safe manner while maintaining the quality standards set forth by the Company.
  • Ensure that all lines within their area obtain the required production standard.
  • Know how to properly use all pieces of equipment within their area, understand how the equipment works, and perform basic troubleshooting in instances where the equipment breaks down.
  • Ensure that all training for all employees on their shift is being completed in a satisfactory manner in accordance with company policy, including inspection criteria, cleaning practices, safe equipment operation, case/pouch/carton fabrication, and GMP policies.
  • Be able to carry out all duties of the line foreman.
  • Ensure that all departments within their area are operating with the correct amount of scheduled people.
  • Identify any excess people and have them sent to the shift coordinator for reassignment.
  • Look for ways to reduce the labor count without making compromises to employee safety or finished product quality while obtaining the required production.
  • Ensure that all reporting for all finished skid production is turned into the data entry department at the end of their shift.
  • Review production reports for accuracy.
  • Be responsible for relevant production reporting that occurs during their shift.
  • Fill out any accident or incident report and submit it to the production manager.
  • Issue and hand out reprimands to employees that fail to abide by Company guidelines, as required.
  • Be responsible, with the line foreman and assistance from sanitation, for being able to clean, inspect and know what is involved for all cleanup operations.
  • Share any discrepancies with the Quality Management System (QMS) to their supervisor or quality manager, including HACCP programs, Allergen Programs, Sanitation Procedures, GMP findings, Foreign Material Findings, and HOLD procedures.
