Summary: As a member of the Martin’s Family, a Production supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of production worker family as they operate machines to manufacture products with extraordinary quality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from two-year college or technical school
  • Three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in baking or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with operating forklift and pallet jack.
  • Ability to successfully pass Food Safety HACCP training and competency test.
  • Ability to influence and motivate others to embrace initiatives and pursue organizational development.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting business relationships through listening, supporting and teaming
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unites of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form.

Responsibilities

  • Plans flow of materials through department according to work orders.
  • Inspects, measures, and takes samples of product to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of line, department or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Studies production order to ascertain type and quantity of product, containers to be used, and packaging requirements.
  • Coordinates action for substandard product.
  • Observes packaging operations and inspects baskets and packages to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Requisitions containers and other supplies for delivery to work stations.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements needed for completion of job assignment.
  • Designates breaks within production.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Maintains time and production records, including break sheets, pre and post operational inspections, as well as other safety, food safety, and quality records.
  • Assigns job duties to workers.
  • Coordinates repair work with general maintenance.
  • Ensures pre- and post-operational inspection was completed and recorded.
  • Adjusts’ recipes to sustain product quality.
  • Receives bulk materials.
  • Ensures cleanliness of work area is maintained.
  • Ensures training of new employees.
  • Adheres to and enforces safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
  • Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Understands and executes warehouse inventory transactions.
  • Directly supervises production employees in accordance with policies and applicable laws.
  • Plans, assigns and directs the work of dough prep employees.
  • Trains as applicable and assesses training results and performance of employees.
  • Addresses employee complaints and resolves problems.
  • Coaches, counsels and administers discipline as necessary.
  • Assists in the hiring process of dough prep employees as needed.
