About The Position

Position reports directly to the Value Stream Manager (VSM) and is responsible for supervising all production operations including the safe processing of all material. This position also requires active participation and leadership in Safety, Quality, and Continuous Improvement efforts as directed by the VSM.

Requirements

  • Five to ten years of manufacturing related experience.
  • Minimum of two years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated/starter – Takes initiative
  • Good communication skills – Must be able to effectively communicate goals and priorities to employees under supervision
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, converting decimals to fractions) are necessary to perform job functions.
  • Basic writing skills are required in the completion of daily production reports.
  • Basic verbal communication skills are required to transfer or interpret the explanation of problems and to receive and understand work assignments.
  • Basic reading skills are necessary for the efficient operation of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the safety of all employees and the equipment in the department by ensuring all safety standards and policies are enforced daily.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring and upgrading processes, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, studying methods, implementing cost reductions
  • Facilitates corrections to malfunctions within process control points, and initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Ensure all equipment and work areas are always meet 5S criteria and are in SAFE working order.
  • Daily management of assigned personnel to meet or exceed customer expectations and production efficiency goals.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Employee performance counseling and disciplinary policy enforcement if warranted.
  • Actively identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities in assigned areas utilizing employee input as much as possible.
  • Facilitate, lead, and maintain continuous improvement initiatives in the department.
  • Work closely with material handlers and team leaders to help them schedule their day around their departmental goals.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation in connection with work orders, production reports, scrap reports, and safety inspections.
  • Maintain inventories of materials on hand for subsequent processing and prepare requisitions for supplies and materials as needed to maintain production.
  • Ensure all Quality specifications and Customer expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure all production data required is recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Time/Attendance tracking and approval for all assigned personnel.
  • Tracking and communication of key metrics for the operation.
  • Ensure all personnel are trained and perform to production standards.
  • Ensure standards are met consistently in assigned areas.
