About The Position

This Production Supervisor position is responsible for ensuring employee safety, maintaining plant housekeeping and 6S standards, and meeting daily production requirements. The role also involves ensuring on-time shipping of high-quality parts that meet customer expectations, while continuously improving manufacturing operations. The supervisor directly oversees team leaders, production associates, die set-up personnel, and material handlers on the backshift. This position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 3-years manufacturing experience
  • 3-5 years prior supervisory or team leadership responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated to achieve manufacturing excellence in assigned area – drive for results
  • Ability to conduct independent root cause analysis /5 Whys
  • Ability to hold employees accountable for their performance in a fair, consistent, and respectful manner
  • Ability to interpret data and clearly present conclusions and identify required improvement actions
  • Ability to maximize manpower and utilization in fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to utilize creativity and innovative thinking to implement solutions to problems
  • Demonstrates personal ownership and accountability for safety and production performance
  • Functional knowledge of shop floor and order management systems, both ERP (Oracle) and visual management.
  • Functional knowledge of an ERP systems (D365 preferred)
  • Functional knowledge of core Lean Manufacturing principles, including Kaizen events
  • Strong inter-personal, communication and organizations skills
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct, motivate and lead by example
  • Working knowledgeable of OSHA regulations/requirements, ISO/TS 16949, ISO9001

Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily line staffing is sufficient to meet production and deliver requirements.
  • Ensures compliance to all rules, regulations and policies. Immediately documents, communicates and corrects violations or unsafe conditions; treats all direct reports equally with respect and compassion.
  • Ensures compliance to visual management controls. Hour-by-hour performance tracking, KANBAN pull systems, Line OEE, scrap trends and improvement actions, downtime tracking and improvement actions, 6S audits trend and improvement actions.
  • Ensures employee compliance to part and process operating standards and standards work requirements. Immediately corrects non-conformance to procedure and issues identified Layered Process Audits (LPA).
  • Monitors hourly performance for each production line. Coordinates with Team Leader and other support function as needed to immediately correct off-target line performance.
  • Reviews line performance (safety, productivity, scrap, customer concerns, 6S). Discuss and initiate countermeasures for off-target performance. Follow-up on associates needs and concerns as it relates to production needs.
  • Reviews schedule and order requirements for each production line. Communicates with prior and later shift supervision on schedule/order status as well as known priorities. Notifies FFM of unplanned downtime, excessive scrap or risk of not meeting schedule/order requirements per downtime escalation procedure.
  • Works extended hours when required, including weekends.
