About The Position

The Production Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and optimizing the production processes to ensure the timely and efficient production of high-quality molded products and full value added process and departments, planning production, coordinating, and monitoring production/logistics operations such as downtime, schedule attainment, warehousing, inventory, transportation, and supply chain processes. This role involves managing production / logistics / inventory teams, overseeing machinery, implementing process improvements, and maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English (preferred).
  • Proven experience in a production management role within molding manufacturing (strongly recommended).
  • Strong knowledge of molding processes and equipment (preferred).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of quality control and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses excellent human relations and team-building skills.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to motivate and develop others
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing programs, policies, and procedures that support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally, where applicable in relation to this position.
  • Responsible for safety, quality, and productivity on the plant floor.
  • Responsible for development and administration. Department managerial training should focus on personnel policy, coaching and counseling skills, continuous improvement techniques, and other pertinent subjects.
  • Responsible for supporting the programs and policies established in the department.
  • Responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures that support the following: Customer Satisfaction, Quality, Cost Reduction, Customer Service, Waste Reduction, and Material Yield.
  • Responsible for identifying ways to maximize material yield for the plant and company.
  • Assists in annual plant budgeting and strategic planning to drive cost productivity.
  • Assists in achieving plant performance objectives pertaining to manufacturing costs.
  • Works with the executive and continuous improvement managers to identify projects and teams supporting ongoing improvement objectives.
  • Serves as a mentor.
  • Evaluate performance and implement development plans for subordinate department managers.
  • Supervise the operations of manufacturing personnel to ensure a manufacturing process is within budget and schedule.
  • Identify and implement best practices and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Promote a culture of safety by enforcing safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Manage production control activities to reduce outages and incidents.
  • Control inventory of incoming and outgoing products.
  • Familiarity with the ERP systems IQMS (preferred).
  • Run reports to ensure accuracy of inventory, scanning, shipments, sales, etc.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.
  • Collaborates with departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs.
  • Reviews customer forecasts vs. shipments vs. quoted volumes
  • Evaluates and coordinates material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved material timed to meet production/customer requirements.
  • Evaluates and provides status updates on assemblies that are in progress, material availability, and potential production problems.
  • Communicates with purchasing to prioritize what material requisition
  • Responsible for analyzing data and generating monthly dashboards/reports to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with production, shipping, purchasing, and human resources staff.
  • Ensures any new projects or business has correct resins and parts in correct timing.
  • Review customer forecasts and determine capacity requirements to meet demand.
  • Update capacity planning report monthly for team review.
  • Place orders with suppliers based on internal production needs
  • Perform cycle counts
  • Daily walks through the plant to observe inventory levels and the team’s performance.
  • Manage production planning and scheduling for 100% on-time delivery
  • Be able to communicate issues internally and externally
  • Ensure 5S is maintained on the floor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
