About The Position

We currently have an immediate opportunity for a Production Lead - Packaging to join the POWDER DIVISION at our ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA location.  Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Shift Hours: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM; Overtime and weekend availability required  PREAMBLE Under the direction of the Department Supervisor/Manager, Packaging Lead is responsible for assisting in the directing of activities of all assigned employees, including line runners, operators and all associates withing the assigned group to ensure the efficient and productive performance of the department. Ensures and promotes a safe working environment that meets the daily production goals in Quality, Output, and On-Time delivery.

Requirements

  • At least one-year experience in a lead role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Entry level PC skills and Microsoft Office programs (word, excel, outlook)
  • Previous experience with JDE, SAP, AS400 or other ERP system
  • Effective written communication skills, including legibility.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must have basic Math skills; must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), preferably Bilingual in English and Spanish (or at least a working knowledge of Spanish); must have demonstrated ability to lead and guide the group in a participative, yet decisive manner; must be team-oriented and willing to work collaboratively with supervisor in identifying and implementing effective workplace programs and solutions; must have demonstrated a combination of experience and leadership skills coupled with initiative and desire to work in a dynamic work environment with multiple demands; must be poised, confident and capable of interacting effectively with supervisor and other support group; must be detail-oriented with a hands-on approach to monitoring, communicating with the line /group.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a “Safety First” culture by observing and enforcing all safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), GMP’s and Safety standards
  • Always maintain production areas in an “audit-ready” condition.
  • Assists department supervisor/manager in the daily production and quality goals and ensures that these goals are achieved for the assigned areas
  • May prepare daily production reports and may attend daily production meeting.
  • Prepare, release, and print work order packets, verifying accuracy against production schedules
  • Track production schedule progress and update packaging router revisions as needed.
  • Provides directions to associates ensuring that work is performed according to SOP instructions and that product fully meets Nellson / customer’s specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor work order completion to ensure labor hours, materials, and production data are accurate and current
  • Reviews all finished documentation to ensure all documents are filled out correctly according to current procedures before submitting them to QA.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse staff to ensure product availability and prevent downtime.
  • Properly handle and operate scanners as required.
  • Perform outputs, consumptions, and product movements using scanners as required.
  • Communicate with line runner/operators regarding staffing and assist with line balancing when applicable.
  • Lead production employee training to ensure proper operation of machinery and equipment, adherence to manufacturing and inspection processes, and compliance with safety and quality requirements
  • Assists in directing assigned areas in packaging, processing, or support areas to meet customer quality, output and on-time delivery
  • Coaches' employees in their continuous improvement efforts
  • Provides continuous monitoring of packaging rooms during regular shift and/or on Saturdays when required by the company
  • Walks production floor to ensure all employees are maintaining productivity standards
  • Communicates mechanical issues to supervisors or request help directly from mechanics
  • Interfaces with other departments to ensure goals and deadlines are accomplished
  • Ensure employees take all breaks and lunches within the required time period.
  • Assists and perform additional duties as required.
