Requirements

  • Some related experience preferred.
  • Highly motivated to work, learn, and teach.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills in select areas of technology.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Average mobility to move around an office environment.
  • Capable of conducting work on a computer.

Responsibilities

  • This position functions as a shop assistant, responsible for learning manufacturing and prototype concepts.
  • The role includes providing housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Operate machines as qualified.
  • Lift, position, and remove workpieces from machines to assist with fitting and welding.
  • Load, stack, and transport stock, tools, dies, and work in process manually or using a truck.
  • Clean and scrape metal surfaces for fabrication, welding, painting, or shipping.
  • Pick up scrap from work areas.
  • Maintain a clean work environment with machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Load and unload production machinery following posted instructions.
  • Conduct visual safety inspections at the start of each shift and record findings.
  • Report any abnormality in parts or machinery to the Supervisor or Lead hand.
  • Support changes to machines or jobs as directed by the Supervisor or Lead hand.
  • Address any other reasonable requests from Supervisor or Management.
