About The Position

The Foreman is responsible for leading and managing all operational activities during the assigned shift to ensure departmental goals for Safety, Quality, Throughput, and Cost are consistently met within the EP Department. This role ensures strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and verifies that all processed components meet the highest quality standards. The Foreman also oversees adherence to production schedules, timely execution of tasks, fulfillment of customer requirements, and continuous material flow to support downstream operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited schedule standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Working knowledge and demonstrated use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of QAD systems.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic English
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk 12 hrs. per day.
  • Requires occasional physical activity throughout shift (walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, handling, near/far vision, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.)
  • Willing to work in hot/humid, cold and noisy manufacturing environments.
  • 2-year college preferred and 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Heavy manufacturing shop floor experience required.
  • Understanding and utilization of 5S concept.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring consistent basic quality standards and procedures up and down work chain.
  • E/P and Heat Treat line management (production schedule, deliveries, product quality assurance) Ensures line utilization is at a maximum.
  • Ensures manpower utilization.
  • Directs and coordinates E/P operations based on policies, objectives, and programs spanning manufacturing functions.
  • E/P and Heat Treat line improvement/refinement.
  • Ensure all KPI's are met.
  • Determines performance and product quality and has direct accountability for that performance.
  • Works with maintenance to ensure equipment uptime.
  • Manage resources within E/P and Heat Treat area to ensure staffing and equipment readiness levels match business activity level.
  • Coach and motivate employees; evaluate employee performance per PRD system and provide disciplinary action as required per KAAP policy.
  • Promotes, maintains, and enforces safe and healthy working conditions for all employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and Company standards.
  • Assign work according to designated priorities to maintain scheduled completion dates.
  • Prepare daily production reports and maintain appropriate records.
  • Maintain good working relationships with fellow foremen, quality control, and inspection personnel to ensure continuous productivity flow.
  • Ensure accuracy of QAD system.
  • Ensure all SOPs are followed and not deviated from.
  • Other duties as assigned by the EP Supervisor.
