About The Position

The Entertainment Accountant plays a key role in managing financial records, budgeting, cost reporting, and compliance for entertainment projects such as films, TV shows, digital content, or live events. Working closely with producers, line producers, and finance teams, this role ensures that all financial aspects of production are tracked accurately, reported timely, and aligned with industry and union standards. Must be a local hire in Los Angeles. Not a remote job. Must have recent film/ TV accounting credits.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Production or Entertainment Accountant in film, television, or digital media.
  • Strong knowledge of industry accounting practices, payroll systems, and union/guild requirements.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite, Oracle and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of U.S. tax laws and entertainment tax incentives is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent certification is a plus).

  • Experience with multi-project accounting environments.
  • Familiarity with international productions and multi-currency budgeting.
  • Previous experience working with entertainment payroll services (e.g., Entertainment Partners, Cast & Crew).
  • Ability to adapt to changing production needs and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare/oversee day-to-day accounting operations for productions, including AP/AR, petty cash, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and monitor production budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Process and review production-related expenses and ensure accurate coding and approvals.
  • Collaborate with line producers, department heads, and external vendors to manage cash flow and budget compliance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, often in compliance with union regulations (e.g., SAG-AFTRA, DGA, IATSE).
  • Generate weekly and monthly cost reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage financial close-out processes for completed productions.
  • Assist in audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and industry standards.
  • Maintain organized and auditable financial documentation for each project.
  • Use production accounting software (e.g., Movie Magic Budgeting, PSL, SmartAccounting, Greenslate) as needed.
