About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Production Engineering Manager (Level K) for Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) at the Boeing South Carolina Delivery Center in North Charleston, SC. This role involves leading an integrated group of engineers and technical employees to support 787 production engineering. The manager will facilitate communication across various departments like Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to develop engineering solutions for production deviations and improve the overall 787 production system. The position may also include higher Material Review Board (MRB) functions and oversight, and interfacing with airline representatives, regulatory agencies, and suppliers/partners to resolve issues impacting aircraft build, test, and delivery. The manager is responsible for staffing and directing a technical team, establishing group goals, managing budgets, monitoring performance against program and functional commitments, and developing technical employees within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership
  • Willing to work second shift, weekends and holidays if required

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in the following: aircraft production, ground operations and/or flight-line operations
  • 1+ years of experience in Material Review Board processes
  • Experience in leading or managing teams
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and maintains a safe and healthy work environment
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in Production Engineering
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships with operations/quality teams and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees
  • Potentially provides higher Material Review Board (MRB) oversight
  • Interfaces with Operations, Quality, Engineering, airline representatives, regulatory agencies and suppliers/partners to resolve issues impacting aircraft build, test and delivery
  • Staff and direct a technical team in establishing team goals
  • Monitors group performance against program and functional commitments while developing technical employees within the team
  • Position will require weekend and off shift support as necessary
