About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Production Engineering Manager (Level K) to join the Engineering team in North Charleston, SC. This position is for 2nd shift and involves leading an integrated group of engineers and technical employees in Liaison Engineering, providing support for manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing engineering and technical activities, developing and executing project plans, implementing policies, establishing operational goals, and acquiring resources. The role also includes technical management of suppliers, leading process improvement initiatives, and fostering relationships with various stakeholders. The manager will oversee technical approaches, products, and processes, and will be responsible for the development and motivation of employees. Key aspects include managing work statements for rapid response to open tasks, supporting the 787 program, developing relationships with manufacturing and quality teams, and communicating shift handoffs. The position also involves promoting a safe work environment, providing oversight for the Material Review Board (MRB), and interfacing with various internal and external entities to resolve issues impacting airplane build, testing, and delivery. Effective budget management and monitoring group performance are also critical.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 3+ years of experience performing Material Review Board (MRB) product review
  • Currently have or previously held MRB certification from any Boeing business unit OR other aerospace OEM
  • Able to work any shift based on the needs of the operation

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of MRB as an engineer
  • 5+ years of experience working in a production/flight-line environment
  • Experience in leading or managing teams
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities within Production Engineering
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and establish operational goals
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvement initiatives
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees
  • Oversees work statement management for engineering rapid response to address open tasks and deliverables
  • Supports the 787 program by addressing open work to facilitate next-day planning
  • Develops relationships with manufacturing and quality teams
  • Communicates shift handoffs to support urgent delivery requirements
  • Promotes and maintains a safe and healthy work environment
  • Provides oversight for the higher Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Interfaces with Operations, Quality, Engineering, airline representatives, regulatory agencies, and suppliers/partners to resolve issues impacting airplane build, testing and delivery
  • Staffs and directs a technical team in establishing group goals
  • Manages budgets effectively
  • Monitors group performance against program and functional commitments while developing technical employees within the group
