Basic Job Functions:The position of Production Automation Controls Technician includes but is not limited to preventative maintenance, troubleshooting existing systems, developing, and installing new equipment, as well as maintaining and upgrading automation controls throughout the facility. The teammate must be willing to work overtime with little or no notice and weekends and holidays if needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience with automation in a production environment
  • 1 year of experience with programs in Siemens STEP 7 (LAD,FBD,STL) w/PROFINET and WinCC 3
  • 1 year of experience in electrical design practices, machine/motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, programming and systems integration

Nice To Haves

  • Siemens PLC, motion control, VFD and safety hardware
  • Inductive Automation Ignition experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of control systems design, programming, and systems integration with understanding of open loop and closed loop control systems
  • Familiar with state-of-the-art technologies in the following areas: control system integration, control system architectures PLCs/CIP, motion control systems, electro-mechanical drive systems, robotics, part sensing, vision, risk assessment, and safety systems
