As a Product Owner IIII within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Dallas, TX, or Phoenix, AZ, and play a critical role supporting enterprise-scale backend and platform technologies that enable reliability, monitoring, observability, and analytics across the firm. PNC is seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner with a strong foundation in Business Analysis to support enterprise backend platforms. This role blends strategic product ownership with hands-on execution and administrative rigor, making it well suited for a Product Owner who has grown from a Business Analyst background and is comfortable operating in complex, highly regulated environments. The Product Owner IIII typically supports two to three enterprise platforms concurrently and works in close partnership with engineering teams, architecture, site reliability and operations, and vendor partners to ensure successful delivery and ongoing platform health. The Product Owner III will support a subset of enterprise platforms within the broader technology portfolio. Specific assignments may vary over time and may include, but are not limited to, Monitoring & Observability (BigPanda, Dynatrace, Grafana), Analytics & Logging (Elastic / LogScale, Glassbox), and Configuration & Change Management (Evolven), or other enterprise backend or infrastructure platforms. This role owns the vision and definition of the product, serves as the voice of the Customer, and ensures the Scrum Team(s) effort is concentrated on the right priorities based on business value. They define and convey the vision to the team(s) to address client requirements and ensure a successful product for business objectives. They are accountable for the creation and integrity of the product backlog, prioritizing and leading its grooming, and working closely with Scrum Master(s) and development team(s) to ensure focus on the right items during development. They are the primary point of contact for questions from the team(s) and are empowered to make decisions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience functioning as a Product Owner in an Agile environment.
  • Strong Business Analyst skill set with demonstrated requirements gathering and documentation experience.
  • Experience owning prioritization, product roadmaps, and planning cycles.
  • Technical aptitude with backend, platform, or enterprise systems.
  • Experience supporting multiple products or concurrent workstreams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks.
  • University / college degree (Bachelor's).
  • 5+ years of industry-relevant experience.
  • Specific certifications are often required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Product Owner for assigned enterprise backend platforms, ensuring alignment to business objectives, technical strategy, and operational priorities.
  • Own product prioritization decisions, balancing near-term operational needs, risk reduction, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Develop and maintain annual product roadmaps and lead quarterly planning activities.
  • Identify and manage dependencies and sequencing across multiple products and workstreams.
  • Maintain end-to-end ownership of the product backlog, including backlog buildout, grooming, refinement, and prioritization.
  • Translate complex technical, operational, and compliance requirements into clear, actionable user stories.
  • Perform significant administrative and documentation activities, including requirements documentation, process flows, and platform artifacts.
  • Partner closely with Scrum Masters and Engineering teams to support sprint planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Site Reliability Center operating models.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for availability, reliability, performance, and observability.
  • Engage with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements, align priorities, and manage expectations.
  • Support vendor relationship management, including participation in vendor evaluations, roadmap discussions, and contract conversations.
  • Own the vision and definition of the product and serve as the voice of the Customer.
  • Ensure the Scrum Team(s) effort is concentrated on the right priorities based on business value.
