Location: Huntington Beach, CA (in office), Minneapolis, MN (in office), or Remote Home Office Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Product Marketing Specialist to join our trade publishing team. This role develops the tools, collateral, and messaging that empower our sales and ecommerce teams to successfully present, position, and sell our children’s books into schools, libraries, retailers, ecommerce, and other channels. Reporting to the Director of Trade Marketing, the Product Marketing Specialist will work closely with editorial, design, and sales leadership to ensure our products are supported by high-impact, compelling assets that highlight their educational and literary value. The ideal candidate combines a passion for children’s books with strong marketing and communication skills and has a proven ability to translate product features into clear, benefits-driven sales materials.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in marketing, product marketing, or sales support, publishing or education industry experience a plus.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex product details into clear, benefit-driven messaging.
  • Proven experience in ecommerce product, series, and brand optimization, including SEO and keyword development, and image, video, and product description best practices.
  • Experience developing sales tools such as product sheets, presentations, catalogs, or digital toolkits.
  • Experience with various marketing, publishing, and ERP platforms, for example Semrush, Helium10, Adobe Creative Cloud, Edelweiss, Hubspot, and NetSuite
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Enablement & Asset Creation Develop and maintain product assets, catalogs, seasonal presentations, and other collaterals to support sales conversations.
  • Create persuasive product copy, key talking points, and positioning statements tailored to educators, librarians, and retail buyers.
  • Collaborate with design and outside freelancers to produce visually engaging graphics, one-pagers, and digital assets, including Amazon A+ Content for product detail pages.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging and brand voice across all materials.
  • Go-to-Market Support Support the development and execution of seasonal campaigns and product launches.
  • Develop digital toolkits (videos, slide decks, case studies, FAQs) for internal and external use.
  • Market Insights & Positioning Translate customer feedback and market insights into updated product messaging and improved sales materials.
  • Benchmark competitor collateral and identify opportunities to differentiate.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment & Vendor Management Work with editorial, design, and sales teams to ensure assets accurately reflect product features and align with broader marketing campaigns.
  • Provide training and onboarding support for the sales team on new assets and product positioning.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors as needed for projects.
