About The Position

The D. E. Shaw group seeks product managers to join its Human Capital (HC) Products team and build technology that facilitates recruiting and employee experience processes (e.g., candidate tracking and assessment, performance and learning management, global mobility workflows). This team manages HC's systems infrastructure—which combines in-house and third-party platforms—including designing new products from the ground up and exploring ways to thoughtfully integrate AI. This dynamic position offers the chance to flex creative skills while leading development of innovative, data-oriented products in a collaborative working environment.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher and three to seven years of relevant experience.
  • Product management experience and an interest in working on internal-facing software; experience with human capital systems or operations is a plus (e.g., ATS, HRIS, HCM, LMS).
  • The ability to take initiative, dive into details, and manage projects to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an aptitude for translating the needs of non-technical users into technical requirements, and the judgment to exercise extreme discretion with confidential information.
  • A knack for solving open-ended problems and seeing how small details interrelate to impact the bigger picture (i.e., systems thinking).

Nice To Haves

  • experience with human capital systems or operations is a plus (e.g., ATS, HRIS, HCM, LMS).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal users and our international team of software developers to build and enhance human capital software, leading large-scale projects to develop new modules and integrate AI, as well as implementing feature enhancements through regular release cycles as part of our multi-year systems roadmap.
  • Scope open-ended projects, conduct discovery to understand user needs, and collaborate with stakeholders to create cross-team workflows and products that facilitate them.
  • Conceptualize solutions and technical requirements, oversee development, testing, and rollout, and establish structures and processes that drive projects to successful completion.
  • Own relationships with internal stakeholders and share responsibility for sprint planning, backlog grooming, and user support/troubleshooting.
