Requirements

  • BSME, BSEE or a related engineering degree
  • 5-7 years of experience on total vehicle or component design and product release
  • Required Product knowledge: Automotive fluid transport tubes, hoses, and fittings
  • Familiarity with engineering tools and methodologies: DFMEAs, DVPs, testing, control plans, PPAP, and VAVE
  • Self-motivated and results orientated, proactive with outstanding planning and follow up skills
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), MS Project, SharePoint, TeamCenter a plus
  • Organizational skills and acute attention to detail required
  • Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate
  • Ability to follow instructions: Managers assign tasks and responsibilities, which vary; this position should be able to follow instructions competently
  • Methodical approach: Production lines follow a set process, so this position needs a methodical approach to ensure all tasks are completed in the correct order for a smooth-running production line
  • Concentration: This position may perform the same or similar tasks repeatedly, so a strong level of concentration when carrying out these tasks is important for quality control purposes. This role is often fast paced, so being able to maintain focus at all times is important

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with appropriate production and process staff to understand the fastener, fitting and hose/tube requirements of a particular application or product
  • Identifies, selects, or develops fasteners, fittings, and tub/hoses, based on weight, strength, heat and cold tolerance, cost, and durability
  • Approves releasing engineering designs at experimental, test or development phases of the program
  • Develop/Audie torque strategy across all NA plants in compliance Design and contract requirements
  • Oversee or may assist in set-up and monitoring of product testing
  • Interact and facilitate contact with our government partners and customers. Includes travel to US military bases
  • Provides engineering analysis of field problems and, as required, travel to investigate field issues
  • Perform other duties and special tasks as assigned
