About The Position

The Role: Assist Product Development Representatives & Breeders by performing a variety of functions to include but are not limited to the areas of responsibility listed below. Location(s): Salinas, CA

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma and currently a junior or senior college level student
• Must have clean DMV driving record
• Must be hands-on and willing to work in fields throughout Salinas and the Central Valley
• Some overnight travel will be required
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including promotional and creative writing
• Organization and project management skills to meet identified deadlines
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Able to troubleshoot, problem-solve and goal directed
• Able to multitask and prioritize daily workload

Responsibilities

• Participate in all PD activities
• Plant variety trials
• Monitor/Scout all trials in field
• Maintain PD trial notes
• Rogueing seed production fields
• Oversee all aspects of Pelleting vendor trials
• Participate in quality control activities
• Present results of Project Research & Development
• Monitor and document field crop conditions
• Supervise farm labor in nursery setup and cultivation, and harvest
• Monitor plants in greenhouse
• Plant variety trials
• Rogueing experimental lines
• Maintain breeder's notes
• Select plants for seed production
• Participate in quality control activities
