This role ensures the effective sourcing, purchasing, and distribution of raw materials and finished goods, utilizing the company ERP system to support production planning and operational efficiency. The Materials Manager evaluates historical data, forecasts demand, and develops strategic plans to enhance departmental productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This position plays a critical role in building vendor relationships, optimizing inventory, and supporting overall supply chain strategy. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven managerial or leadership experience within a supply chain, procurement, or materials management function.
  • Advanced knowledge of supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Solid understanding of forecasting, budgeting, and operational planning.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to document and maintain organized records and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to improve cost competitiveness, quality, and efficiency of materials management.
  • Oversee ERP system utilization to support demand forecasting, raw material purchasing, production planning, and inventory management.
  • Establish overall supply chain plans for each part and material, including storage, inventory optimization, and reduction strategies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop vendor relationships to ensure quality, reliability, continuity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate contracts, blanket purchase orders, pricing, and service agreements with vendors.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, approve requisitions, and ensure compliance with purchasing policies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product Line teams to align supply chain strategies with production and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to ensure timely delivery and meet customer requirements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate materials team members to drive performance and professional development.
  • Lead initiatives to explore new materials, suppliers, and processes to enhance quality, delivery, and cost outcomes.
  • Oversee annual physical inventory, maintaining accurate records and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Shipping/Receiving to manage timely receipt and dispatch of materials.
