Are you an experienced procurement professional with deep knowledge of the construction industry? We are seeking a Procurement Manager to lead and manage purchasing operations across our plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC divisions. This role is critical to ensuring cost-effective procurement strategies, strong vendor partnerships, and seamless support of VMG's project and service teams. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, strong negotiator, and collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

  • Proven commodity buying experience in plumbing and mechanical construction is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional procurement or purchasing experience in commercial or residential construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Detailed understanding of construction materials, equipment, pricing structures, and vendor management.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting or procurement software.
  • Positive attitude and ability to succeed in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage procurement operations, with a strong focus on commodity buying for plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Negotiate pricing, rebate agreements, contracts, and purchasing terms with vendors and suppliers.
  • Oversee the review, approval, and execution of plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and equipment bids.
  • Partner closely with project managers, service teams, field personnel, accounting, and warehouse staff to support project execution.
  • Support estimating and special bid efforts by reviewing take-offs, scopes, and pricing for accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships, fostering a "trusted partner" approach.
  • Review plans and specifications to ensure proper material selections, quantities, and pricing.
  • Set up new vendors, supplier programs, labor rates, and purchasing structures as needed.
  • Review and approve addendums, pricing changes, and procurement adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, pricing databases, and purchasing records.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements within procurement operations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teams regarding purchasing procedures and best practices.
  • Promote accountability, integrity, and collaboration across procurement and operations teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
