Are you a strategic procurement professional ready to own and advance critical spend categories? Prologis is seeking an ambitious, results-driven Procurement Category Manager who will collaborate closely with internal business partners and external suppliers to drive measurable value across sourcing and category management programs. In this multifaceted role, you will lead competitive sourcing events, negotiate favorable commercial terms for building materials, contractors, and installation services, and manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and cost discipline. You will work cross-functionally with Development, Operations, Finance, and Legal teams to translate business needs into executable sourcing strategies—leveraging Prologis’ global scale to unlock efficiencies and strengthen partnerships. Reporting to the Director, Procurement – Strategic Initiatives, this role plays a critical part in shaping Prologis’ path forward by executing category strategies, enhancing supplier performance, and delivering sustainable cost and operational improvements.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of progressive experience in procurement and category management, including category strategy development, strategic sourcing, supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, supplier performance management, program development, and business partner engagement.
  • Strong understanding of category management principles, with demonstrated ability to analyze spend and market data, develop multi-year category strategies, and translate insights into measurable business outcomes.
  • Proven track record of delivering sustained value through cost optimization, risk mitigation, supplier performance improvement, and service-level enhancement, including expertise in commercial deal structuring, negotiations, and long-term agreement management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a logical, structured, and data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ability to build trust by consistently modeling company values, policies, and ethical standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience leading process improvement and standardization initiatives; familiarity with Lean principles or continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive initiatives from strategy through execution and ongoing performance management.
  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Management preferred.
  • Experience in General Contractor (GC) sourcing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain deep expertise across assigned categories (including but not limited to Steel Joist & Deck, HVAC, Lighting, Switchgear, and Dock Doors/Equipment), including supply chain structure, cost drivers, key suppliers, and go-to-market models.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for Prologis to create sustained competitive advantage through long-term category strategies, structured commercial agreements, and value-driven supplier partnerships.
  • Monitor and analyze marketplace trends impacting assigned categories, including cost drivers, supplier financial health, supply chain risk (geopolitical, environmental, regulatory, financial), currency impacts, sustainability requirements, and emerging technologies. Translate insights into proactive category actions and risk mitigation plans.
  • Own and execute end-to-end category strategies, including leading strategic sourcing events, aligning initiatives to long-term objectives, governing implementation and adoption, measuring performance, and driving continuous improvement across cost, service, risk, and value.
  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance buying programs and preferred supplier frameworks to aggregate purchasing power, standardize materials and suppliers, improve service levels, increase compliance, and strengthen accountability across the organization.
  • Lead the development and expansion of Prologis’ TIMR materials program, including identifying priority categories, structuring preferred supplier programs, establishing pricing and commercial frameworks, aligning internal stakeholders, and implementing governance and performance tracking mechanisms to ensure adoption.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for assigned categories by partnering with internal and external stakeholders to define requirements, influence demand and standards, manage expectations, and foster collaborative, performance-driven supplier relationships.
  • Contribute to the broader evolution and reputation of the Procurement function by promoting disciplined spend management, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Travel as needed (approximately 10–20%, domestic and international) to support business objectives.
