About The Position

Acting on own initiative, the Procurement Category Manager is responsible for all aspects of sourcing strategy, leading and managing supply partnerships, external innovations, supplier quality improvement, supplier continuous improvement, sustainability improvement with supplier partners and points of escalation as needed for the Supply Chain team. Leads large scale business transformation initiatives together with Sales, Marketing, Winery Operations, Winemaking, Vineyard Management, Supply Chain, Legal and Finance to deliver significant business results based on category insight, market trends, identification of new supplier partners, new processing methods, etc. This role drives the overall Procurement category strategy for the assigned categories across the business and leads the procurement activities related to value creation, cost savings, innovation, sustainability, quality, in/out-sourcing, and more. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, finance, management or related field or equivalent years of experience; MBA preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience in supply chain, specifically sourcing and procurement Prior experience in beverage alcohol or CPG preferred
  • Deep knowledge of category management and strategic sourcing processes, accounts payable principles, procedures, and standards
  • Detailed knowledge of TCO and how to effectuate them into category strategies
  • General understanding of Supply Chain Management tools
  • Must exhibit excellent communication skills, analytical skills and problem-solving ability
  • Strong ability to analyze multi-dimensional data and complex information
  • Continuous improvement mindset to constantly grow knowledge in the assigned categories
  • Experience working with Supply Chain and accounting ERP Systems (SAP, JDE, etc.) and automated procurement tools
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite tools
  • Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques
  • Expert in conducting spend & demand analysis
  • Expert in RFx development & execution
  • Common knowledge in contract planning and execution
  • Strong skills in procurement applications

Responsibilities

  • Leads, supports, and drives category strategies across the business to deliver Value, Supply Resilience, Quality, Innovation, and Sustainability; translates business strategies into an aligned procurement category strategy
  • Develops, champions, and ensures implementation of long term Procurement category strategies and leads cross functional teams to optimize total cost of ownership year-over-year for assigned spend categories; creates and develops a strategic mid and long term plan for the development of the category
  • Proactively identifies continuous improvement opportunities to advance the category such as design-to-value, should cost models and process mapping
  • Leads cross functional teams across the business such as Wine Making, Marketing, Engineering, etc. to bring category insights, opportunities and recommendations to help drive value in the categories
  • Creates a category specific roadmap that forecasts and directs sourcing projects and procurement activities
  • Leads complex supplier negotiations to secure best outcomes for the business considering Value, Supply Resilience, Quality, Innovation and Sustainability metrics
  • Drives value through supplier relationship management and regular quarterly business reviews (QBRs) using data such as Cost, Delivery performance (OTD), Quality (defect rates), Innovation (supplier led innovations) and Sustainability (gm2 material reduction)
  • Works with internal customers and suppliers to improve sourcing processes
  • Acts as a change agent and implements change management to deliver value Establishes category metrics and savings targets, monitors performance, and communicates these to stakeholders including any budgetary impact
  • Manages supplier contracts, development and relationships to ensure continuity of goods and services that meet the quality, service and price performance standards of the company
  • Partners with cross functional departments such as Quality, Packaging and Bottling Operations to resolve quality issues and lead remediation discussions with suppliers
  • Provides category specific subject matter expertise and insights to internal clients and regular status updates of all projects to leadership
  • Remains current with market trends through relationships with suppliers and market experts; identifies and communicates new technologies and solutions to key problems in the assigned spend areas
  • Leverages current and future business requirements, market intelligence, and historical spend to develop innovative category strategies that drive cost reduction, enterprise consistency, and business value
  • Drives improvement of procurement efficiency and effectiveness throughout Delicato
  • Collaborates effectively across different organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies to realize procurement goals and objectives
  • Collaborates with the Buyers in the procurement of specified materials and services at optimum prices, terms, conditions, and quality to ensure the best value for business and customers as required
  • Maintains appropriate documentation to Comply with Food Safety, JOSE and Purchasing Policy
  • Issues RFPs, receives competitive bids, analyzes proposals, negotiates commercial agreements, and maintains compliance with the company’s purchasing policy
