About The Position

The Procurement and Supply Chain Supervisor is responsible for assisting in procurement of all ingredients, packaging materials, utilities, fuel and operational supplies required for Galliker Dairy's manufacturing and distribution operations. This position plays a central role in maintaining cost efficiency, supply continuity, and compliance with company standards and food safety programs. The role requires strong analytical acumen, supplier relationship management, and close coordination with both internal production teams and external purchasing cooperatives. This position is intended to be a developmental opportunity to advance to the role of Purchasing Manager in approximately one year. During this developmental period, the role includes close coordination with the dry goods warehouse to ensure strong knowledge of receiving, storage, inventory management, and production processing. This role requires that all materials are handled safely, efficiently and accurately in accordance with food safety audit and regulatory standards and maintain full traceability and inventory control through the SAP ERP system. Success in this position requires the ability to work collaboratively with operations, quality assurance and finance personnel and the ability to supervise direct reports effectively.

Requirements

  • Requires at least 5 years of procurement and supply chain management experience, preferably in the food or beverage manufacturing industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or other significant experience that demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proven leadership with excellent communication, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Computer proficiency in ERP systems like SAP. This position requires strong proficiency in Excel and the ability to conduct detailed financial modeling, cost variance analysis and supplier scorecard management.
  • Ability to monitor commodity and futures markets affecting dairy and beverage ingredients.
  • Familiarity with SQF or similar food safety certification systems.
  • Strong work ethic, leadership potential and willingness to learn. Demonstrated strong strategic thinking skills and a continuous improvement mindset. Ability to advance to a senior management position.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments at Galliker Dairy.
  • Flexibility to work unusual and extended hours as required and availability to work weekends and holidays if scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and managing all purchase orders for ingredients, packaging, and production supplies.
  • Participate in negotiating pricing, contracts, and delivery terms for categories including raw materials, ingredients, packaging and services.
  • Participate in management of fuel and utilities contracts to optimize cost savings and ensure stable supply.
  • Partner closely with QCS Purchasing Cooperative category managers to leverage collective buying power and technical expertise.
  • Assist in monitoring commodity futures markets relevant to dairy inputs such as cream, orange juice concentrate, sugar, corn syrup and resin.
  • Maintain accurate and timely procurement records within the SAP ERP system.
  • Use SAP ERP, Microsoft Excel, and other business applications to maintain detailed purchasing data, supplier histories and spend analysis.
  • Ensure all purchases meet SQF and food safety requirements and support supplier audits.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse Supervisor to oversee all dry goods warehouse operations including receiving, storage and inventory management.
  • Inspect all incoming deliveries for quality, accuracy and condition.
  • Manage the storage and movement of all dry good items including milk cartons, resin for blow-molded containers, PET bottles and caps, labels, corrugated boxes, tape, shrink wrap, flavorings, beverage powders, stabilizers, dried milk, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Coordinate with the cooler warehouse for the proper receiving, storage, and transfer of refrigerated and frozen ingredients.
  • Maintain efficient warehouse layout to optimize safety and material flow. Ensure all warehouse practices comply with SQF, FDA, and GMP requirements.
  • Implement and enforce FIFO inventory rotation and proper lot tracking practices.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Production teams to resolve discrepancies or non-conformance issues.
  • Maintain real-time inventory accuracy through SAP ERP and barcode scanning.
  • Conduct scheduled cycle counts and full physical inventories; investigate and correct variances.
  • Monitor usage rates and coordinate with Production personnel to maintain optimal stock levels.
