About The Position

The objective of the Egg Packing Machine Operator is to operate and maintain the egg packing machine, ensuring efficient and safe packing of eggs. This role involves preparing materials, monitoring the packing process, performing quality control, and adhering to safety and biosecurity protocols. The operator works independently and communicates effectively with other team members, requiring attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to focus, stay alert with very good observation skills.
  • Able to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective working well in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to maintain proper pace while handling a fragile product with little or no breakage.
  • Ability to be flexible with working schedule - employees may need to work longer or shorter hours to meet operational needs, as determined by leadership.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1+ years of work experience, in food processing plant preferred
  • MUST NOT CURRENTLY OWN, HUNT BIRDS, OR VISIT ANYONE THAT OWNS BIRDS (pet bird, backyard flock, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Organize materials at the start of the day, including pallets, flats and dividers
  • Set up and prepare the egg packing machine for operation
  • Prepare date cards for labeling packed eggs
  • Run and operate the packing machine, including any robotic components
  • Load trays and monitor conveyor belts to ensure smooth operation
  • Use the REF system on a computer to monitor egg flow and track production
  • Manually inspect and remove any broken or damaged eggs before they enter the packing machine
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift
  • Follow all biosecurity and coworker safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
  • Operate a pallet jack safely to move materials as needed
  • Assist other team members with supplying materials in zone 3 when required
  • Communicate any machinery issues or malfunctions to the maintenance manager promptly
  • Maintain radio communication with barn staff to coordinate egg supply and other operational needs
