INTERNSHIP FORMAT In-Person: The format for this internship will be in-person, where the intern will be required to work on-site at the Starplus Energy Manufacturing site in Kokomo, IN. The assignment is project-oriented, meaningful to the department, allows the intern to take responsibility for a major task, and allows the intern to experience a sense of personal accomplishment and contribution. They will get hands-on experience with a highly automated process. Interns will get to experience corporate business culture and gain the communication and etiquette skills required as well as develop professional relationships with their team by participating in group activities and collaborating on team projects. They'll also get to share knowledge gained from recent courses and further develop computer skills and learn new systems and software. Upon completion of the internship, they will get to present their assignment to senior level employees inside and outside their assigned department.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • The student must work a minimum of 10 weeks.
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Major in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering at an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited program; other Engineering degrees from an ABET accredited university programs (Aerospace/Aeronautical, Agricultural, Biomedical/Biomechanical/Bioengineering, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Computer Science, Materials, Mechatronics, Metallurgical, Software) or related field will be considered if the candidate exhibits the desired characteristics to fill an opening within the intern program.
  • Completion of freshman year or higher at an accredited university by the spring of 2026
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite applications
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various organizational levels and with external partners.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and achieve goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven leadership in academic pursuits, extracurricular activities, or service organizations.
  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work around the potential exposure to dust and chemicals
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE as deemed essential for the job function
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • To safely perform the essential functions of the position you must be able to distinguish colors
