The Process Control Technology Services (PCTS) division provides 24/7 support for the Water Services Department's (WSD) industrial control systems, implemented at five water treatment plants, two wastewater treatment plants, one water reclamation plant, and over 200 remote sites throughout the city. These advanced and highly automated systems enable the WSD to meet stringent regulatory performance requirements, comply with federal, state, and county regulations and reporting mandates, and produce high-quality water and effluent. The Operational Technology section of PCTS delivers comprehensive technical hardware and software support for the installation and maintenance of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems in water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection processes. The Water Services Department is seeking a Process Control User Technology Specialist. The Process Control User Technology Specialist is a critical role within the WSD, responsible for the technical support and maintenance of the DCS and SCADA systems.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of hardware and software or installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems
  • OR One year of experience in telephone station equipment and related telecommunications distribution systems
  • OR One year of experience in avionics maintenance
  • course work including training or experience with one or more work station computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in computer science, IT, engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in systems analysis, programming, or telecommunications.
  • Hands-on experience in water/wastewater treatment control systems, including DCS and SCADA.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems.
  • Certifications in control systems, cybersecurity, water and wastewater treatment, CAP, CCST, and CompTIA A+.
