Requirements

  • University Bachelor’s degree (engineering / technology): Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, plus 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Associate’s degree: Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, or Industrial Instrumentation Technology, plus 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of batch and continuous process units within petrochemical industries.
  • Knowledge of process control systems, including advanced regulatory control.
  • Proficiency in Distributed Control Systems and related databases; ABB MOD300/800xA and Emerson DeltaV preferred.
  • Experience with PLC hardware and software (Triconex, Allen Bradley, Modicon).
  • Experience in one or more languages (e.g., C, Visual Basic, SQL).
  • Working knowledge of protocols such as Modbus, Modbus TCP, and Profibus.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams, adapting to problem scope and urgency.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, partnership, and clear communication across operations, engineering, and maintenance.
  • Applies advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and deliver practical solutions.
  • Proficient with computers and business applications, especially the Microsoft Office 365 suite.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level operational support for unit-specific control issues.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Project Engineering, and I&E Maintenance to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Design, recommend, and execute modifications to control strategies, and systems based on process operation reviews.
  • Enhance utilization of control technology by training Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams on system functionality.
  • Assess resource needs for resolving control-related challenges and determine when alternative solutions are required.
  • Act as the primary contact for process control and automation in projects focused on production, safety, and maintenance.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with process control systems, including equipment malfunctions, software errors, and communication failures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
