Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited 4-year college or university required
  • 4 + years of process control/engineering experience preferred
  • PLC, DCS hardware architecture and wiring experience
  • Programing experience and interest, knowledge of control theory and thorough understanding of common instrumentation
  • Knowledge of computer network preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Siemens PCS7, Foxboro I/A, Honeywell Measure X preferred
  • Engineer in training certificate or professional engineering license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of new control systems projects
  • Provides application/control systems design and development for systems of varied complexity to support capital plant and maintenance engineering projects
  • Develops and evaluates alternative system solutions that meet stated requirements
  • Modifies program/system logic involving multiple systems and subsystems.
  • Develops proficiency in multiple programming languages
  • Analyze requirements, procedures, and problems to identify the system components and develop the design and functional specifications for the automation systems.
  • Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements
  • Technical resource in process control
  • Compliance with Process safety, ergonomics, MSHA, ISO 9000, environmental agencies, applicable codes and regulatory agencies
  • Ensure projects comply with COS
  • Departmental record keeping and databases
  • Manage the process control network development and problems
  • Responsible for Process control problems shutting down operations
  • Develops technical solutions and evaluates alternative system solutions that meet best practices and corporate requirements
  • Maintain management of change and P&IDs in coordination with data position
  • Compliance with the capital deployment project plan
  • Develops process controls strategies and long-range plans
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and control device networks for PLCs, PCs, or DCS systems.
  • Analyze requirements, procedures, and problems to identify the system components and develop the design and functional specifications for the automation systems.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements
  • Communicates technical strategies and results across the business in a manner that the solutions strategies and business impact are readily understood
  • Compliance with Process safety, ergonomics, OSHA, MSHA, ISO 9000, environmental agencies, applicable codes and regulatory agencies
  • Departmental record keeping and databases
  • Supports the development of AFEs, including evaluation of project’s economics
  • Implement process control projects to support AFEs or operations engineering projects
  • Seek opportunities to reduce costs and enhance products via control technology
  • Ensure projects comply with Corporate Operating Standards
  • Assist in diagnosis, maintenance and back-ups of process control systems, data acquisition systems, and infrastructure
  • Implement changes and projects via process control systems
  • Provide training for personnel using control systems
  • Support ISO 9000 efforts
  • Support Responsible Care program
  • Troubleshoot network problems
  • Response to call-ins related to control systems when production is down (must be available on a rotation schedule)
  • Develop troubleshooting tools to reduce downtimes (remote access)
