About The Position

The Assistant Pro Shop Manager supports the daily operations, merchandising, and member service experience within the Detroit Athletic Club’s retail environments. This role assists in maintaining the Club’s high retail standards by ensuring efficient operations, accurate inventory management, and exceptional member engagement. Working closely with the Pro Shop Manager, this position helps execute retail strategies, supports staff scheduling and training, and contributes to the shop’s financial and operational success.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of retail or customer service experience, preferably in a private club, athletic, or luxury environment.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce operations preferred.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification (club requirement, may be completed upon hire).

Responsibilities

  • Retail Operations & Member Experience Support the day-to-day operations of all retail outlets, ensuring spaces are organized, inviting, and aligned with DAC standards.
  • Provide exceptional, personalized service to members, assisting with product selection, special orders, and custom fittings.
  • Help coordinate themed or seasonal merchandise tied to athletic events, clubs-within-the-club, and tournaments.
  • Assist in maintaining DAC’s e-commerce presence and ensuring a seamless member experience online and in-store.
  • Inventory & Purchasing Support Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular counts and reconciliations.
  • Assist with product receiving, tagging, display setup, and storage organization.
  • Support purchasing and vendor communications directed by the Pro Shop Manager.
  • Help monitor product movement to identify reorders, slow movers, and promotional opportunities.
  • Financial & Administrative Support Assist with POS operations, invoicing, and member billing accuracy.
  • Track daily sales, monitor returns, and prepare reports as requested.
  • Support the Manager in achieving sales goals, managing margins, and monitoring expense controls.
  • Staff & Service Leadership Serve as a working leader on the floor, modeling DAC’s “Everything Is!” hospitality culture.
  • Support onboarding and training of retail associates, ensuring product knowledge and service consistency.
  • Assist with scheduling and daily task delegation to ensure appropriate coverage and service levels.
  • Act as Manager-on-Duty in the Pro Shop in the Manager’s absence.
  • Operational Excellence Help maintain visual merchandising standards and brand consistency throughout displays.
  • Ensure compliance with DAC operational policies, safety procedures, and member service expectations.
  • Assist in implementing retail technology tools and maintaining data accuracy within DAC systems (e.g., Nexus).
