About The Position

Make a Difference as a Program Assistant with Pro Deo Join Pro Deo’s after school program and be part of a mission-driven Youth Center that serves eastern Jackson County, primarily the suburb of Lee’s Summit and provides activities, tutoring and counseling to help teens grow into productive adults while enjoying their teen years in a safe and fun environment. In 2024, Pro Deo entered into an agreement with ReDiscover, a non-profit community mental health center in southeastern Jackson County, Missouri. Requirements

• Availability to work a part-time schedule (about 20 hours a week) with availability typically needed between 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Wednesday with the possibility of 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM to support evening program activity as applicable. When school resumes in August, the schedule will move to 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Monday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Wednesday and 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM on Friday.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as the use of email.

Responsibilities

• Work under the Program Team Lead to assist afterschool, summer and Friday night programs for students and teens.
• Demonstrate, instruct, lead and/or facilitate all aspects of planned and spontaneous program activities with teens enrolled within the Pro Deo program.
• May also assist the Program Team Lead in developing, promoting, and implementing program activities.
• Maintain a safe environment for students while providing care/supervision, oversight and accountability for Pro Deo participants.
• Interact with students and teens in a manner to build and maintain healthy relationships and to promote student retention.
• Monitor and tracking students’ progress through one-on-one documentation and weekly updates. This includes ensuring positive communication to parents regarding activities being planned and student participation.
• Communicate and collaborating with staff to address various aspects of the program.
• Transport students from school to Pro Deo building in Lee's Summit using 15 passenger company van.
