Hillcrest Hospital’s 3 West Tower Complex Medical Care is a 46- bed unit known for their outstanding communication skills and top-quality patient care. Our patient population consists of adults and geriatric adults requiring medical, surgical and telemetry nursing care on an inpatient and observation basis. As Patient Companion, you will help facilitate this mission by providing compassionate and top-quality care. In this role, you will assist RNs, physicians, dietitians and other staff in coordinating and fulfilling treatment plans. You will also find a culture that encourages professional growth, educational development and career success. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) varying shifts. Working 48 hours per 6-week schedule will be required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Heartsaver Level of Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within three months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skin care and vital signs

Responsibilities

  • Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming and taking vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry.
  • Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected.
  • Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers and ambulation.
  • Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures as required.
  • Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient.
