As Patient Companion, you will help facilitate this mission by providing compassionate and top-quality care. In this role, you will assist RNs, physicians, dietitians and other staff in coordinating and fulfilling treatment plans. You will also find a culture that encourages professional growth, educational development and career success. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) varying shifts. Working 48 hours per 6-week schedule will be required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Heartsaver Level of Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within three months of hire
  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skin care and vital signs

Responsibilities

  • Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming and taking vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry.
  • Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected.
  • Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers and ambulation.
  • Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures as required.
  • Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient.
