About The Position

The Independent Product Valuations (IPV) Group within the Finance department is primarily responsible for ensuring the appropriate mark to market of trading positions on the firm’s books and records. The group sets independent pricing and valuation adjustment policies, executes and generates results, then communicates the results with various stakeholders to remediate and prevent issues on an ongoing basis. The team interacts closely with other parts of the firm including Trading, Risk Management, Model Validation, and Product Control. The position will be a highly visible role, assisting in the fair value determination of less liquid instruments; primarily in private credit. This role offers significant growth and development opportunities under senior team guidance. Seeking to fill a full-time Private Investments Valuation Specialist in the Independent Product Valuations Group (IPV). This VP role will work closely with the Senior Private Investments Valuation Specialist, focusing on building expertise in private credit and infrastructure valuations while contributing to the team's analytical capabilities. As an integral part of the IPV team, the Private Investments Valuation Specialist will work to independently verify Front Office prices for a wide array of products, with a focus on Private Credit, Infrastructure and Power Finance, and Fund Financing. Experience in securitized products such as CLOs and RMBS is a plus. Develop and maintain valuation methodologies for a range of Private Investments, including Private Credit, Private Equity NAV financing, Infrastructure and Power Finance, and Structured Products. Review valuations produced by third party providers such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) based analysis, Valuation Multiple based analysis, comparable company analysis, and asset-based approaches. Assess financial models, monitor company specific performance indicators and track news events for the asset classes. Improve existing methodologies and implementing new ones, as well as ad hoc pricing projects. Collaborate with internal and external audit, external valuation firms, senior management, trading, risk, product control, model validation and due diligence. Additional duties involve preparing monthly summary reports for senior management and conducting monthly valuation meetings where IPV presents this information. The role will also involve in-depth research of certain highly technical subjects relevant to supporting the business.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Financial Services experience
  • Min of 3 years in private investments, credit analysis, structured products, or investment banking with exposure to valuation work; specific private credit experience is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field; CFA Charterholder or progress toward the CFA charter is preferred.
  • Experience from valuation services firms, Big-4, investment banking, credit analysis, or asset management with demonstrated understanding of fair value concepts for illiquid instruments.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and effective communication are vital to this role.
  • Ownership mentality with ability to resolve issues independently.
  • Strong familiarity with industry data sources, and the ability to review deal documentation, including Credit Agreements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in securitized products such as CLOs and RMBS is a plus.
  • Experience leveraging technology to analyze deal documentation and company specific performance data is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Programming, Alteryx, PowerBI and/or other data science, analytics, business intelligence solutions platforms is also a plus.
