We are seeking a Private Events Sales Director to reimagine, elevate, and grow Luminarias' private events business - honoring its legacy while evolving execution, sales strategy, and guest experience to meet modern expectations. This is a high-impact leadership role for a confident seller, strategic thinker, and inspirational team leader who understands that great events are built on relationships, trust, precision, and heart .

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in catering, events, or hospitality sales leadership
  • Proven success driving multi-million-dollar event revenue
  • Experience in destination venues, hotels, or high-volume event properties
  • A polished communicator with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Highly organized, detail-driven, and execution-focused
  • Calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, and decisive
  • You respect tradition - but aren't afraid to raise the bar

Responsibilities

  • Revenue Strategy & Growth
  • Full ownership of catering and special events revenue
  • Drive consistent growth across weddings, social events, corporate functions, and buyouts
  • Develop and execute quarterly and annual sales strategies
  • Maximize revenue through strategic pricing, packaging, and calendar optimization
  • Personally manage and close high-value and legacy client relationships
  • Sales Leadership & Market Presence
  • Position Luminarias as a top-tier destination venue in the Los Angeles market
  • Build strong relationships with event planners, community leaders, corporate clients, and cultural organizations
  • Lead outbound sales efforts, inbound inquiry conversion, and proactive account development
  • Partner with marketing to refine sales materials, storytelling, and venue positioning
  • Team Leadership & Culture
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing catering sales team
  • Set clear expectations around activity, accountability, and performance
  • Foster a culture rooted in hospitality, pride, urgency, and professionalism
  • Mentor team members and build a strong internal leadership bench
  • Event Experience & Execution
  • Oversee all private events from initial inquiry through final execution
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Culinary, Beverage, and Facilities teams
  • Ensure events are executed with precision, warmth, and elevated standards
  • Uphold profitability guidelines while delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Systems, Reporting & Optimization
  • Own CRM usage, forecasting, booking pace, and reporting
  • Analyze performance data to improve conversion, yield, and client experience
  • Build scalable systems that support growth while protecting quality
