The firm operates nationwide and globally as an independent member of Nexia. This career opportunity is for a Managing Director to join the Private Equity Value Creation team within the CxO Advisory practice. CohnReznick's CxO group provides extensive executive advisory (OCFO, OCOO, OCIO), digital and process transformation, and automation enablement services to mid-market clients across various industries including tech, consumer, manufacturing & distribution, real estate, hospitality, private equity, and renewable energy. While CohnReznick is a hybrid firm, this specific position is considered remote, meaning job duties do not require proximity to a CohnReznick office location, though occasional presence at an office may be required for client work, team meetings, or trainings.

Requirements

  • BS/BA required
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in private equity portfolio operations, consulting, transaction advisory, or senior corporate finance roles
  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience including supervision of direct reports
  • Deep expertise in OCFO transformation, FP&A leadership, and finance operations within PE-backed environments
  • Extensive experience supporting M&A transactions, integrations, and complex carve-outs
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex engagements and serve as a trusted advisor to executives and PE sponsors
  • Strong familiarity with finance systems architecture, data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies
  • Track record of building teams, developing talent, and contributing to practice growth
  • Demonstrated ability to responsibly deploy firm-approved AI tools in client delivery
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, on average

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leadership pillar within the Private Equity Value Creation team, responsible for owning client relationships, leading complex engagements, and helping shape the strategic direction of the Office of the CFO (OFCO) offering.
  • Work closely with and serve as a trusted resource to PE sponsors and portfolio company executives to deliver high-impact finance transformation, operational improvement, and value creation initiatives.
  • Own the design and execution of client finance function transformations, operating model design, and post-close stabilization initiatives.
  • Coordinate with team and management regarding client expectations concerning project deliverables and deadlines.
  • Effectively write and communicate engagement reports and deliverables to client management.
  • Mentor and coach staff, including Senior Managers, Managers, and Senior Associates, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Be market facing, participating in firm-organized and industry events, building relationships with prospects and referral sources to generate new business and expand existing business.
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership in growing the OCFO and Value Creation practice, contributing to go-to-market strategy, offerings, and intellectual capital.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to PE sponsors and portfolio company CFOs on finance strategy, performance management, and value creation.
  • Lead end-to-end financial operations due diligence for buy-side and sell-side transactions.
  • Oversee development of KPI frameworks, dashboards, and board-level reporting for sponsors and executives.
  • Lead interim CFO or senior OCFO support engagements, providing hands-on leadership during periods of transition or rapid growth.
  • Guide treasury strategy, liquidity management, and working capital optimization initiatives.
  • Oversee carve-out financials, separation planning, and complex integration efforts.
  • Partner with firm leadership, Transaction Advisory, Tax, Technology, and Data teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Serve as executive sponsor and engagement leader, managing teams, margins, and client satisfaction.
  • Drive adoption of firm-approved, AI-enabled tools and analytics to enhance client outcomes and internal efficiency.
