About The Position

Building More Human Customer Experiences with AI Embedding privacy and trust at the core of next-generation AI platforms Sierra is hiring a Privacy Counsel to help design and scale its global privacy and data protection program as the company builds AI-powered platforms for enterprise customer engagement. Based in San Francisco, this role is a core member of the legal team and partners closely with Product, Engineering, and business leaders to embed privacy-by-design principles and strong data governance into how Sierra’s platform is developed and operated. The Privacy Counsel will play a central role in shaping how Sierra approaches responsible AI and global regulatory compliance as it grows. In this role, you’ll help guide compliance with global privacy frameworks including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, as well as emerging AI-specific regulatory regimes. You’ll build and operationalize privacy policies, playbooks, risk frameworks, and training programs, and monitor global regulatory developments to advise leadership on product and customer implications—particularly across industries such as healthcare and financial services. You’ll collaborate closely with technical teams to understand product architecture and data flows, translating complex legal requirements into clear, product-ready guidance. You’ll also contribute to the development of AI governance policies to ensure responsible deployment, ethical data usage, and alignment with evolving regulatory expectations. The ideal candidate brings strong law firm training, deep familiarity with global privacy regimes, and comfort advising on novel AI-related issues.
