About The Position

Privacy and AI regulation are at an inflection point, and there has never been a better time to build a practice in this space. This is a substantive role from day one. You will work directly with senior attorneys on matters spanning privacy law, AI regulation, technology transactions, adtech, tracking technologies, and data monetization. You will have direct exposure to clients, regulators, and the people shaping this space, and you will be trained and mentored by attorneys who have been doing this at the highest level. Our Data Strategy, Privacy & Security Group has handled enforcement matters, advised on cutting-edge AI deployments, and built a practice at the center of where technology, privacy, and business intersect. This is a temporary role lasting up to three months, with the possibility of becoming a full-time position.

Requirements

  • Strong writing and analytical skills, with the ability to produce clear, practical, and client-ready work product.
  • Demonstrated interest in privacy, data or technology law. This is a fast-paced practice that values curiosity, dedication and a commitment to professional growth.
  • Proficiency with relevant drafting, presentation, and internal productivity tools (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and ability to learn new systems as needed.
  • Working knowledge of AI models and an up-to-date awareness of their evolving trends.
  • At least 1 - 2 years’ experience practicing in privacy, data, or technology law, and looking to grow their expertise in the digital privacy area.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school required.
  • Active membership in the California Bar required (not pending or awaiting results).

Nice To Haves

  • CIPP/US or similar certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate transactional agreements involving data, including master services agreements, data processing addendums, vendor contracts, and SaaS agreements.
  • Work with clients to evaluate the legality of their proposed projects and products, draft policies and procedures, and conduct privacy due diligence and data privacy impact assessments.
  • Assist clients with responding to security incidents, data breaches, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Advise on tracking technologies and ad-tech matters.
  • Research and draft legal memos in response to client requests.
  • Participate in public speaking engagements and panels, as well as write blogs/client alerts.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
