Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is currently seeking Designers to support our Tooling Engineering team at our Bacchus (Magna), Utah facility. The candidate will be responsible for concept development, modeling design, and the creation of fabrication drawings for tooling and support equipment used in Solid Rocket Motor applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Mec hanical Design or related technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of technical experience in design and fabrication of special tooling and related equipment; 3 years of experience with a MASTER's degree.
  • CAD modeling and 2D drafting experience.
  • Siemens NX/Teamcenter preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018).
  • Knowledge and application of drawing weld symbols and application of AWS (American Weld Society) specifications.
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA Safety Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings to be used in the manufacturing of new tooling, to support the production of rocket motors.
  • Create effective and safe equipment that is used to manufacture, test, qualify, and transport rocket motors or rocket motor components.
  • Interface with review team to ensure customer satisfaction with design.
  • Work with internal Customers to concept needed support equipment for new and existing programs.
  • Developing tooling concepts, creating/reviewing, and improving manufacturing processes to meet Customer requirements.
  • Work closely with Tool Engineers to create models and final drawings.
  • Understand/monitor cost and schedule.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability.
