Position Summary: Reporting to the Ultrasound Supervisor, incumbent will perform the full range of non-invasive vascular exams, vascular ultrasound, and may perform general ultrasound when needed. This includes M-mode, 2-dimensional, color Doppler, pulsed Doppler, and continuous-wave Doppler. Recognizes and describes abnormal findings, follows protocols and tailors the procedure to provide a comprehensive exam. Will perform exams on adults and pediatric patients. Will prepare and position patients, adjust equipment to best demonstrate area of interest, operate various stationary and portable equipment and imaging systems. May rotate to other areas of the medical center. Hours will include holiday rotation. The vascular technologist will assist in the training of technologists, fellows and students as assigned. Will be responsible for statistics and record keeping. Will maintain equipment and log all reported repairs. Must be able to work independently and provide written impressions for the radiologist and vascular surgeons. The technologist is expected to display professional conduct at all times in their interactions with other staff members, patients and visitors.

Requirements

  • Signed off on Vascular and TCD by a UCI designated official. If external, must be signed off within 90 days of hire.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist Certification (RVT)
  • Must possess A.R.D.M.S. certification
  • Must perform both inpatient and outpatient exams, and all other ultrasound exams as needed.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Experience with Pediatric ultrasound to include neonatal heads
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Current BLS certification
  • Competent with the following exams: NICU, Vascular surgery, Elastography, Penile doppler, Breast imaging, Foam Therapy, Venous reflex exams, dialysis access, arterial upper and lower extremity, carotid Doppler studies, and TIPPS.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • 5 years experience as a vascular technologist in a hospital or dedicated lab and two years experience in diagnostic ultrasound

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited vascular or ultrasound school
  • A.R.D.M.S. in at least two specialties
