This Principal System Administrator role involves providing IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux environment. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting technical problems, collaborating with teams, designing and deploying containers, managing virtual environments (ESXi, VCenter) and Windows domains, performing data backups, installing software, and ensuring security compliance. The position is full-time, 100% onsite, and requires an active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance, with U.S. citizenship being a prerequisite.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience Deploying Windows workstations and migrating end-user data.
  • Experience with cloning techniques.
  • Use and guide use of automation tools e.g. Ansible.
  • Experience with operating system concepts and implementations.
  • Microsoft Windows Active Directory Services administration and support (e.g. user and computer objects administration, Group Policy).
  • Experience with network services related to Microsoft Windows environment (e.g. DC, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Experience with supporting desktop / workstation hardware.
  • Experience with an IT incident/service request system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux environment.
  • Experience with troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems.
  • Execute actions as directed by senior staff and project management.
  • Engage in cross-team collaboration and align with expectations of leadership team.
  • Design, develop and deploy containers.
  • Participate in all phases of Engineering software installation and support, with emphasis on testing, documentation, and acceptance phases.
  • Manage ESXi, VCenter and Microsoft Windows domains.
  • Experience with Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Experience with hardware RAID, hardware and software encryption and server management tools.
  • Perform data backup and restore, using industry best practice.
  • Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.
  • Travel required as business needs dictate to other US Domestic locations, up to 10% per year.
