Role Summary The Principal Sponsorhips is the sole subject matter expert in sponsorship strategy and activation for Alaska Airlines. As an individual contributor, this role defines long-term strategy for leveraging major sponsorships to drive company and brand results. This role also exercises considerable latitude to ensure ROI is being delivered across a wide portfolio of 20+ sports, lifestyle and athlete partnerships, including but not limited to; Seattle Kraken, Seattle Mariners, University of Washington, San Francisco Giants, Portland Trail Blazers and more.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience sponsorship management, partnership marketing, or related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in marketing, sports marketing, or related area, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Proven success in developing and executing high impact sponsorships.
  • Experience reporting on sponsorship portfolio performance and ROI.
  • The ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements in a competitively charged environment and willingness to try new things to drive execution and differentiate our product among a vast number of competitors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Willingness to travel and attend sponsorship events outside of normal business hours.
  • Strong cross-group and cross-division collaboration skills.
  • Ability to think differently, challenge conventional wisdom, and drive new best practices.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Lead subject matter expert in sponsorship management, negotiation, and partnership marketing.
  • Defines long-term, annual sponsorship strategy aligned with company objectives and brand positioning.
  • Exercises considerable latitude to make decisions in partner selection, negotiation, campaign development and execution to drive ROI and business results.
  • Influences across the company and several levels up to maximize sponsorship portfolio mix and ROI, set sponsorship goals and planning.
  • Manages multi-million-dollar sponsorship budgets, forecasts, and resourcing.
  • Collaborates across cross-functional teams to develop authentic integrated marketing plans and experiences to amplify awareness of sponsorships to fans.
  • Leverages team data, market trends, research, competitive and industry insights to make informed decisions and reports to inform executives on progress to goals and future vision.
  • Networks with key industry leaders to galvanize valuable relationships and stay ahead of new opportunities to innovate in the sponsorship space.
  • Leads the development of new partnership opportunities.
  • Responsible for the daily activities and scope of works of sponsorship agency partners.
