About The Position

Major focus areas of software maintained by the team include: Developing and maintaining tooling used to deploy Compute Applications and Infrastructure Creating and maintaining highly available APIs for launching and managing Compute resources. Designing and implementing highly scalable systems capable of functioning across numerous regions in a worldwide cloud footprint. Security-first design and deep integration with the OCI Identity and Access Management (IAM) framework. You and members of the team will be called upon to solve many diverse scaling, security, efficiency, and automation problems through robust architectural decisions and customer-first design. The ideal candidate will be DevOps minded and have a passion for creating software and automation that improves our deployment experience. Note: this position is located in Nashville, TN. This is not a remote position.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of at least one major programming language (preferably Java or Golang)
  • Knowledge of a scripting language (preferably Python)
  • Exceptional knowledge and experience with Terraform
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Linux shell scripting -- bash)
  • A strong knowledge of Linux fundamentals
  • Knowledge of database fundamentals
  • Familiarity with major architectural patterns and principles
  • Skills in debugging and testing complex systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • OCI greatly values collaborative design in writing. This will be particularly important as a Principal Member of Technical Staff.

Responsibilities

  • As a Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will be called upon to lead major projects and have significant participation in design and architecture.
  • You will be expected to act as a technical leader on your team and demonstrate core values for other more junior engineers.
  • You will be responsible for a wide-ranging set of tasks within the software development space. These range from participating in high-level architectural discussions to feature implementation and DevOps automation.
